L’Empire romain, partie II

Les Belles Lettres

PRESSE

Second part of the illustrations for the book The Empire by Isaac Asimov, the famous science fiction writer. Les Belles Lettres publishing house entrusted me with the task of illustrating this fascinating epic of ancient history in this second volume. This volume contains 10 illustrations that depict the history of the Roman Empire from Augustus to its fall.

PRESSE

A very good overview of the history of the Roman Empire

get lost in moralistic considerations or value judgments. It is truly a beautiful popular science book aimed at a wide audience with little knowledge of the subject.
Amazon reader's review - 19/07/2024

One embraces the entire Roman history without boredom, turning the pages one after another. You finish this reading well-informed without being overwhelmed by excessive details or lengthy digressions.
Amazon Reviewer - 05/07/2024

No revelations or in-depth analysis (materially impossible given the vast scope of the period covered), but a solid summary document, a quick reference tool, which concludes with the genealogy of the main dynasties, a detailed chronology, and a comprehensive index, while several maps illustrate the major territorial changes of the empire throughout.
Wars and Conflicts - 25/06/2024

Asimov does not merely list portraits; he also explores, without detracting from the pleasure of reading, the evolution of culture, science, and customs during Rome's long reign. What’s more, the publisher has paid particular attention to the illustrations of this summer book, which is unlike any other.
Les Echos - 19/07/2024

In his always pleasant style, the famous science fiction author transforms into a meticulous historian.
Vae Victis - 01/07/2024

With a heavy heart, the novelist navigates through political intrigues, major battles, and minor emperors (and vice versa), not without humor.
Le Point - 08/08/2024

Remarkably concise, always clear, his presentation avoids any spectacle that might divert attention from the essentials, and those fans of Suetonius eager for juicy details about decadent emperors will be disappointed.
